Challenger Learning Center Celebrates Earth Day!
The Challenger Learning Center celebrated Earth Day on April 22-25, 2008 with Camden Middle School (SEAGULL gifted and talented program). Earth Day is celebrated to remind us of how to use resources from our planet and to promote awareness of Earth issues. Students participated in lectures and hands-on activities.
The Rendezvous with Comet Halley Mission had the students constructing a probe, plotting an interception, and overcoming the challenges of space travel while studying atmosphere.
In the e-Planetarium the students were excited to see Earth’s history in 3-D. They learned about eclipses, the ice age, earth’s water cycle and the Moon. They imagined they were on a roller coaster ride through lava, as they saw roaring dinosaurs and crashing asteroids.
Recycle bins were available for the staff and the community to participate in this Earth Day celebration as well.More>>
